Her brown eyes sparkled in the light And when she laughed, the sun shone a little more bright. She blessed us with her smile, And her hands knew no end of cheerful toil. Though she was small in stature, She stood as regal as a queen. Love and laughter were graced upon her face. Her sons and daughters graciously obeyed her every command. She disciplined with authority, But she carefully hid a cheeky grin Underneath her fierce looks and threats That remembered childhoods of times past. She was a precious stone in her family’s eyes: A shining sapphire, a priceless pearl, a glittering diamond. Though she is gone now, The light she filled us with is seen in the shimmer of the stars, In the gleam of the moon, And in the rise and fall of each setting sun. She provided love, warmth, and care And her personal prayers for each one of us A link to the father we’ve held so dear. They shared a life hand in hand, putting aside all fear. When he died, she felt her heart break But with eyes set on God, she went forward in faith. On July 7th, 2010, he gently came to take her He wanted her by his side when he met his maker. So it was with love and trust That she let go of her mortal spirit And her soul soared high to the heavens above To meet God’s love infinite. Though we may feel pain At our mother’s passing We must always remember That love is everlasting. Ammachi and Appachan, Intercede for us, your children So that someday we may meet again In our final home, heaven. |
